New case of COVID-19 in Huron Perth

There’s a new case of COVID-19 in Huron Perth.

New data released by Huron Perth Public Health Monday morning shows the new case is in St.Marys and it brings the total number of cases to 53.

Huron Perth Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Miriam Klassen, sain in an update Monday afternoon that the new case is in a male from St.Marys and is a confirmed contact of a previous case.

She added that where a person lives isn’t necessarily where they contacted the virus so it’s important to remain vigilant when out in the community.

HPPH says the number of deaths from the virus in the region remains at 5 with 45 people recovering.

Another 68 people were tested since Sunday with the return of negative test results remaining at 98-percent.

HPPH says 174 tests are pending.

The outbreak at Maitland Manor in Goderich declared on May 20th, is still active.
