Stratford Fall Fair canceled due to COVID-19

For the first time in its 179-year history, the Stratford Fall Fair has been canceled.

Stratford Fall Fair Chair Martin Ritsma says the decision was a tough one to make but the events board felt there was no way to go ahead with it due to COVID-19 restrictions.

He says the event, which was to be held in late September, regularly draws an overall attendance of 15-thousand plus and things like the midway would have had to be drastically reduced to ensure proper spacing was in place.

“With Campbell Amusements, the midway, in early discussions with them we knew we’d be looking at maybe a quarter of their traditional footprint on the midway.”

Ritsma adds the fair has survived other events including the Spanish flu which shows how important it is to be safe against COVID-19.
