St.Marys Fire Department gets new tool thanks to donation

The St. Marys Fire Department says it has a brand new tool that could make the difference between life and death during an emergency.

The fire department says it’s all thanks to a $5-thousand donation from Dowler Karn, which was presented to Fire Chief Richard “Andy” Anderson earlier this month.

The funds from Dowler Karn were used to purchase a high elevation monitor nozzle which is a high-capacity water jet used in manual firefighting.

It can be aimed and operated by one firefighter and is equipped to spray both water and foam.

The department says this particular model of monitor nozzle is especially helpful when battling blazes in facilities like factories that house highly flammable materials.
