Huron Perth MOH believes region is over first wave of COVID-19

The Medical Officer of Health for Huron Perth says the region seems to be over the first wave of COVID-19.

In a press briefing on Monday, Dr. Miriam Klassen says the health unit is changing its pandemic response to six days a week from seven and closing the unit to the public on Sundays.

She also added that work on Sundays would be changed from case and contact management to other areas where they can help the community reopen from the pandemic.

The new schedule will be in place as of Sunday with the exception being long weekends when the health unit will be closed on Saturdays.

Self-referrals for COVID-19 tests are also now available throughout the region, according to Klassen, with assessment centres at hospitals in areas including Stratford and St. Marys accepting appointments.
