United Way Perth-Huron supporting seniors and caregivers impacted by COVID-19

The United Way Perth-Huron is supporting seniors and caregivers impacted by COVID-19 in our area.
The organization says it’s distributing over $50-thousand in funding to organizations through a partnership forged between United Way Centraide Canada and the Government of Canada to help vulnerable seniors.

The funding is coming from the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program and it’s going to seven different organizations throughout the area.

These are the recipients:

·         Mobile Food Bank
8,043 lbs. of nutritious food provided to seniors. Huron County Food Bank Distribution Centre.

·         Resident Well-being
329 connections made for well-being support. Town of St. Marys

·         Community Meals & Grocery Shopping
1,368 subsidized grocery/meal deliveries made to seniors in St. Marys. Town of St. Marys

·         Meal Delivery, Grocery Gift Cards and Delivery, Care Packages
133 care packages, meals and gift cards provided. VON Canada Perth Huron

·         Food Delivery and Food Costs
981 subsidized grocery deliveries (subsidizing the cost to deliver grocery orders) and 103 subsidized grocery orders (subsidizing the actual cost of food). ONE CARE Home & Community Support Services

·         Subsidized Respite Services
270 hours of subsidized respite to help support care providers. ONE CARE Home & Community Support Services

·         Essential Trips
200 subsidized essential trips provided for seniors. ONE CARE Home & Community Support Services
