Some events changing in St.Marys due to COVID-19

Some changes are coming to events in St.Marys due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the community marks Remembrance Day, Veterans’ Decoration Day will take place, as per tradition, at the St.Marys Cemetery on Saturday, November 7th.

However, there won’t be a Royal Canadian Legion parade and ceremony on the Sunday prior to Remembrance Day due to Legion command recommendations.

A joint ceremony will take place at the Town Hall Cenotaph on Wednesday, Nov. 11th at 10:45 in the morning and. in the interest of social distancing, the ceremony will be live-streamed and residents without an Internet connection will be able to call-in to listen.

As for Christmas celebrations, the Kinsmen Santa Claus parade is happening on Saturday November 21st with a twist.

Residents are being asked to take part in a “Santa Shunpiker Tour”, with floats stationed around town with a map released the morning of the parade so you can plan your route.

The horse-drawn wagon rides at Milt Dunnell Field in December have been cancelled this year.
