GOJHL revises return-to-play plan

We could be getting closer to seeing the Stratford Warriors return to the ice.

It comes as the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League says it has received approval from the Ontario Hockey Federation to proceed with 5-on-5 Modified Playing Rules for the 2020-2021 hockey season.

The tentative start date for the season has been changed from December 2nd to January 15th, dependent on regional Public Health approval.

Under the league’s plan, there would be five on five play with no body checking and no post-whistle scrums.

Players would also have to wear face mask and facial coverings with the season to be completed by the end of March and the Sutherland Cup to be handed out no later than June.

The league adds while most arenas set to host GOJHL games do not currently permit guest attendance, dedicated fans will be able to follow their favourite team on Hockey TV and through local area programming.
