Stratford Police are reminding you to be careful about online purchases.
It comes after they say they received a report on Friday from a resident who had attempted to purchase a puppy online.
The buyer told police that they had attempted the purchase through the website www.gregpuppyhome.com and they had sent $1000 through an e-transfer to the breeder.
Once the transfer was complete, the buyer said they began receiving messages about extra costs to ship the puppy to the buyer’s home in St Marys, from British Columbia.
The buyer said they made attempts to question these extra costs and they didn’t hear back from the breeder.
It was determined that it was a fraudulent transaction and no legitimate purchase was ever made.
An investigation into the transaction continues.
