Huron Perth could see stricter COVID-19 measures if cases continue to rise

Huron Perth’s Medical Officer of Health says if we don’t turn the number of COVID-19 cases we’re seeing around stricter measures could be put in place.

Dr.Miriam Klassen says the number of cases we are seeing right now, with 44 active cases reported over the weekend, reflects transmission that happened two weeks ago,

She says if it stays this way Chief Medical Officer of Health for Ontario, Dr. David Williams, is going to look at the data and make a recommendation for stricter measures.

That would move Huron Perth from Orange-Restrict to Red-Control which includes stringent measures.

Dr.Klassen says we need to keep following public health advice.

“We can turn this around, if everyone rows in the same direction it’s entirely possible to do that, we have seen that over and over around the world that public health measures do work.”

Dr.Klassen says if the pandemic continues unchecked ot will eventually impact the economy and businesses.
