You’re being reminded about how important it is to maintain your chimney.
It comes after the Perth East and West Perth Fire Departments say they have responded to 16 chimney fires in the past 24 months, including three already in 2021.
They say the cause in all of the fires was related to chimney’s that weren’t maintained properly or that had construction issues.
The departments are also reminding homeowners to check their furnace and dryer vents for snow that has built up.
Blocked vents could lead to a deadly accumulation of Carbon Monoxide in your home.
