Breaking: United Way Perth-Huron announces fundraising goal of over $2 million for Annual Campaign

United Way Perth-Huron officials say they are setting an ambitious goal for this year’s Annual Campaign.

It was launched Friday with the announcement that the UWPH will be looking to raise $2.002 million coming off a record high of $1.96 million being raised last year.

Officials say a major focus this year will be on addressing homelessness with the creation of the Stratford Connection Centre where vulnerable people will be able to turn to for a safe place where they have access to basic needs including a shower and laundry facilities.

Stratford Deputy Mayor and Chair of the United Way’s Stratford and Area Community Committee, Martin Ritsma, says the campaign shines the light on unignorable issues in our community.

“We’re not going to ignore domestic violence, we’re not going to ignore homelessness or hunger or social isolation, we’re going to face it head on.
