Unemployment rate increased in the Stratford region to begin the year

It wasn’t a great start to the year for the labour market in the Stratford region.
The area saw it’s biggest monthly decline in full-time jobs since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in January.
The Four County Labour Market Planning Board says overall net employment in the Stratford-Bruce Peninsula Economic Region decreased by 5,600.
Of the lost positions, 5,400 were full-time.
The losses caused the unemployment rate to go up by 1.6 percentage points to 4.6%.
