Perth County employees have the right to disconnect from work under a new policy.
County council approved the rule at their meeting Thursday morning.’
It gives workers the right to not do things like answer emails or take calls during their time off.
It doesn’t overrule job requirements for emergency personnel or other frontline positions.
County staff says standard operating procedures will go along with the policy so it’s easily understood.
Ontario introduced the legislation in October of last year in an effort to improve workers’ mental health.
