Celebration Of Life For Townes Saragorn Jacobs

Celina: I had the opportunity to chat with Tim Jacobs the father of Townes Saragorn who was a fluid gender street performer for many years in Stratford. Townes passed away 2 years ago on June 26th, 2020 and they are hosting a Covid delayed Celebration of Life in his honour on Saturday, June 25th at the Bandshell in Upper Queens Park.

Townes was part of the LGBTQ community and suffered from mental and addiction issues. Townes had his successes too in terms of periods of sobriety and recovery over the years, and at the time of his passing had been in a program for over a year, remaining drug and alcohol free. Addiction is a cruel disease and Townes succumbed to medical complications after a relapse in Guelph. It was right when everything was ramping up around Covid.

The Celebration for Townes is going to be a musical one. There will be recordings and videos and a few friends performing. Listen to our full conversation below:

Please find attached one of T’s “signature” songs that
might be recognized from his busking days in Stratford.
This was recorded under the Huron St. Bridge.
