Downtown Stratford BIA releases Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism policy

Creating a welcoming community in Stratford.

That’s what Downtown Stratford Business Improvement Area (BIA) General Manager Jamie Pritchard says they’re hoping to accomplish through their work on equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism.

The group has released a policy that’s aimed at educating businesses and details steps that can be taken to create an open and inclusive environment.

The five-page document is broken up into sections including recruitment and hiring of staff, protected grounds, and reporting inappropriate conduct.

Pritchard says work has been done on the policy since 2020 and they held different consultations across the city with various groups and used their feedback.

He says they have sent it out to various levels of government and they hope to present it to Stratford City Council.
