City of Stratford looking for nominations for its Blue Plaque Program

Stratford is continuing to pay homage to its history.

The Heritage Stratford Advisory Committee is looking to recognize specific properties in the city with ties to a significant historical figure or event.

It’s part of the Blue Plaque Program.

Stratford’s first Blue Plaque was installed in 2014 at 46 Ontario St. to recognize that inventor Thomas A. Edison had resided there.

Criteria to be recognized include the person should be of significant public standing and understood to have made an important positive contribution to human welfare or happiness, and has made an impact or is regarded as eminent and distinguished in their profession.

They must have resided in Stratford for at least three months, and have been dead for at least five years.

For a building only, there must have been a historical event of special importance that occurred there.
