World Water Day to be celebrated in Stratford

World Water Day is being marked locally.

In Stratford, there are two water towers that are used to store clean and safe drinking water.

The Dufferin Tower holds a maximum of 3,800 cubic metres of water, which is about 3.8 million litres. The Forman tower holds a maximum of 5,700 cubic metres of water, which is about 5.7 million litres.

The towers also create pressure that helps to distribute the water through the system and ensure an adequate water supply in the case of a fire.

You can visit the Forman Water Tower at 430 Forman Avenue on Wednesday from noon to 3 p.m. for an open house as part of World Water Day, and learn more about where our drinking water comes from, and how it gets to you.

There are also open houses taking place at facilities including the Romeo Street Pumping Station and the Water Pollution Control Plant on West Gore Street.
