Can you keep a SECRET? For Celina, on her Road to Tokyo!

EVENT | Sunday, July 25th, 4-7PM | Giant outdoor photo shoot for our local 10 Meter Olympic Diver, CELINA TOTH

We, in the springboard and platform diving community, would like to invite everyone out to celebrate Celina and our communities together! Here is the link to the Facebook event, full details are in the description: https://fb.me/e/1GhAbl8uT

We have a sports photographer, a videographer and several photographers volunteering and eager to capture such an event. Elgin-Middlesex-London MPP Jeff Yurek is excited to attend, too. I’m spreading the word to media outlets in St. Thomas, London, the Tri-Cities and across southwestern Ontario, and working on bringing out a food truck or two.

As one of the coaches from Celina’s time with the Forest City Diving Club, I remember the day she first walked onto the pool deck at the Aquatic Centre in London. She was bright, smiley and encouraging, persevering, determined and courageous then as she is now!

That day seventeen years ago, Celina began her journey alongside her new teammates, working with Coach Rob Wells, who is now our very own Kitchener-Waterloo Diving Club’s National Head Coach: https://www.kwdivingclub.org/rob-wells/

Many of us have had the pleasure of watching Celina climb to the top of our sport, now standing at the climax of her career as a medal threat in the 10 Meter Women’s event at the Olympics that almost never were. Sharing and celebrating her very special story of fortitude is important, and what better way than to gather together the Ontario diving community with the communities of southwestern Ontario in her honour. Celina has, after all, brought back the circus to St. Thomas, soaring off a three story building with such grace and pure athleticism!

I’ve spoken with Celina’s mom Wendy Toth, and she and several others have been inviting everyone Celina knows… but we don’t know everyone who is a fan of/fascinated by Olympic springboard and platform diving! Please, would you be willing to promote this little impromptu event to bring out as many people as possible? It would be really neat to collectively give a large donation to the St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank in honour of our Olympian.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

We want to see smiles and Canada flags, banners, party hats, etc., to spread Celina’s and our Team Canada spirit, something we certainly cherish in this country!
