Beard growing contest to celebrate Canada’s sesquicentennial

Start growing that facial hair.

Stratford’s sesquicentennial committee is holding a Victorian beard growing contest as part of the celebrations for Canada’s 150th birthday.

Committee chair Kimberley Richardson says it’s open to some different styles:

Richardson says it’s a lighthearted way to raise awareness of the celebration and that the contest is also a throwback to 1867 when Confederation celebrations included a similar contest. If you’d like to take part you have to register at this website.

The committee is also looking for volunteer photo ambassadors to help document the year’s celebrations. Email [email protected] for more information.
