St.Marys intersection, site of several collisions, undergoing changes

Changes are being made to a St.Marys intersection over safety concerns.
Officials say work is being done this week at the Church Street South and Jones Street East intersection which has been the site of several collisions in recent years.
A review found that most collisions happen when an eastbound driver enters the intersection incorrectly because their view is obstructed.
Changes will include the replacement of the yield sign with a stop sign, the trimming and/or removal of trees, and the removal of street parking spaces.
Any trees taken down will be replaced by three new trees elsewhere in town, and new parking spaces will be added on Wellington Street with no accessible spots impacted.
