Local restaurants launch pay it forward programs to help those who are struggling

The Stratford community is paying it forward to those less fortunate.
Local restaurants including Joe’s Diner and Sirkel Foods have launched a program where diners can pay for a meal, have it posted on a board, and someone struggling can come in and enjoy the meal at no charge to them.
Joe’s Diner co-owner Daniel Myers says they started the program last Friday and had over 190 meals paid for by the time they closed on Sunday evening.
He says it’s very easy to see that many are having a hard time getting by.
“It’s gotta be super tough and it is, it’s evident just driving around town you see people that are less fortunate and down on their luck.”
Myers adds that they have enough meals, at this point, to cover the month of December and they will now look to use donations for bulk meals that will be sent to shelters or not-for-profits.
