A serious near miss.
That’s what St.Marys officials are calling an incident last week that saw a rainwater pipe fall from the ceiling at the Pyramid Recreation Centre into the pool below.
No one was at the pool at the time and there were no injuries but officials say it was immediately closed and engineers have been hired to inspect all remaining pipes and anything attached to the walls and ceiling in the pool area.
The initial fall was caused by one of the metal hangers that held the pipe breaking.
The pool building will remain closed until the necessary repairs have been made and engineers declare it safe for the public.
