An 18-year-old from Brampton faces charges in connection to a grandparent’s scam in Stratford.
Stratford Police say they received three complaints from three separate victims on Tuesday with the first incident taking place last Friday.
The victim said they received a phone call from a male who said he was a police officer and reported their grandson had been arrested for a drug offense and bail needed to be paid.
They didn’t pay the money after talking to their actual grandson and realizing it was a scam.
Police say the suspect was later arrested at a home in the city when he tried the scam a third time and he now faces charges including three counts of Fraud Over $5000, three counts of Extortion, and one count of Resisting Arrest.
