Police arrest Stratford man, seize drugs and weapons

A 56-year-old Stratford man faces a long list of drug and weapons charges.

The Stratford Police Service Street Crime Unit with the assistance of uniformed patrol conducted a search warrant at a residence on Cawston Street just after 6 p.m. yesterday. Police say the warrant was the culmination of an investigation that began late in 2023 regarding the trafficking of illegal substances.

Quantities of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, hydromorphone, and oxycodone were seized along with several BB and air-soft guns in addition to a large amount of Canadian and American Currency and two crossbow arrows. The street value of the drugs seized totals nearly $54 thousand.

Police say that at the time of the arrest, the accused had a handheld explosive device, banking and identity documents not issued in his name, and a small amount of crack cocaine. He was remanded into custody pending a bail hearing.
