Four AMDSB schools win medals in Junk Drawer Races competition

Four classes from schools in and around Stratford are celebrating success in a regional design-and-build competition.

The “Junk Drawer Races” event sees teams of students designing, building and testing projects like cardboard cars, paper gliders and hydraulic cranes.

Classes from Avon Public School, Anne Hathaway Public School, Brookside Public School and Elma Township Public School received medals in the regional competition.

“This success in the Junk Drawer Races is a demonstration of (Avon Maitland District School Board) classroom teachers’ dedication to offering diverse, meaningful and hands-on learning opportunities for students,” says Superintendent of Education Paul Langis.

The four teams that won medals are now competing in the provincial championship round of the competition, refining their designs.

The winners of that round will be announced in April.
