Stratford’s Sobeys reopens after refrigeration leak

It’s business as usual at the Sobeys in Stratford after the store was temporarily closed because of a refrigeration leak.

Stratford Fire Chief Neil Anderson tells MyStratfordNow.com that firefighters were called out after they received a fire alarm on Tuesday morning from the business on Huron Street.

They say the store was in the process of evacuating when they arrived.

Anderson says the building’s Carbon dioxide fire suppression system was activated by smoke and oxygen levels were monitored and stayed at a safe level because of a properly working smoke exhausting system.

The store was closed for around two hours and both the refrigeration and CO2 systems were checked and found to be safe.
