Gastrointestinal outbreak declared at Seaforth Community Hospital

A gastrointestinal outbreak has been declared at Seaforth Community Hospital.
Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance officials say it’s in the hospital’s inpatient unit and they are reminding everyone to clean their hands when going into and leaving the hospital, patient care areas, and patient rooms.
The unit is now closed to admissions until further notice and family and caregiver presence has been modified.
Gastro, also known as the stomach flu, causes an infection in the stomach and intestines called gastroenteritis.
The infection is not caused by the influenza virus.
