Stratford and area supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities

Stratford and area residents are doing their part to support McHappy Day.

The annual event is a major fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RHMC), with a portion of all purchases on Wednesday going to RMHC.

There are 16 Ronald McDonald Houses that provide families with a place to stay while their child is treated at a nearby hospital.

Kent Guy, Community Relations Director with Ronald McDonald House Charities, said the two Stratford locations as well as McDonald’s in St. Marys and Mitchell will make a significant contribution on Wednesday.

RMHC in southwestern Ontario supports 3,600 families, Guy said. RHMC will help families save more than $520 each day for each family, equating to $4.7 million per year in savings for families.

It families stay together at a crucial time, Guy said.

There are 40 rooms at the London house, he said, and they are filled every night. But there are also more families that could use assistance.

“We want to help everyone,” Guy said.

All proceeds help “keep the lights on and keep families close to their kids”, Guy said.

Customers can also purchase a $2, $5 or $10 McHappy Day heart that is displayed in the restaurant. You can also round up the cost of a meal to donate.
