Some debuts, some mainstays at Stonetown Heritage Festival

Although it’s later this summer, plans are well underway for the Stonetown Heritage Festival.

“We are thrilled to showcase fresh performances and local talent at the festival this year, appealing to a wide range of ages and interests,” said Alanna Bowes, Town of St. Marys Events Coordinator.

The festival runs July 12-14.

Saturday’s lineup will be standout features, the coordinator suggested, featuring demonstrations and performances throughout the day from Bex in Motion, a hula hoop and comedy artist, plus, a strolling stilt walker.

There will also be local performances throughout the day from various entertainers, including community players and young musicians from The World’s Coolest Music Store.

Youth can enjoy a downtown kids zone, including inflatables, face painting, activities from the EarlyON Centre, St. Marys Museum, and St. Marys Public Library.

Milt Dunnell Field will host the St. Marys Farmers’ Market between 8 a.m., featuring local produce and fresh food from local farmers, as well as craft products.

Saturday evening will feature a concert with local acts including Frank St. Germain and Friends (rock band), Johnny & Stacey (duo), York Street Thought Process (indie folk duo), and Sweetwood Mac (Fleetwood Mac cover band).

Rotary Fireworks will begin at dusk (10 p.m.). Fireworks will be set off from the Grand Trunk trestle. St. Marys Rotarians will be present in the area with donation buckets.
