Infrastructure funding announced for local road project

Mitchell Road South (Highway 23) is getting an upgrade.

Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae has announced $1.04 million in infrastructure funding for North Perth, to resurface the road.

The funding is through Connecting Links, which maintains roads and bridges that connect communities.

“Maintaining and building new roads are essential to connecting our rural communities,” Rae said in a media release. “They are vital for people getting to jobs, health care services, and getting goods to domestic and international markets.

A connecting link is a designated municipal road or bridge that connects two ends of a provincial highway through a community, or to an international border crossing.

This year, the Ontario government is investing $30 million in 21 projects to repair roads and bridges in 19 municipalities.
