The annual Skills Ontario competition that features “exceptional talents and skills” of students featured some excellent performances from local entries.
Thirty-seven students from Avon Maitland District School Board competed at the Toronto Congress Centre earlier this month.
The event provided a platform to demonstrate expertise in trades and technologies.
There were students from the local school board representing Upper Thames ES, Sprucedale PS, Elma Township PS, Stratford Intermediate School, South Huron District HS, Goderich District Collegiate Institute, Stratford District Secondary School and Listowel District Secondary School.
Among the events were LEGO mechanical engineering, technology, and
character animation, VEX Robotics, green energy, workplace safety, and carpentry.
The board said students demonstrated proficiency, creativity, and dedication.
“We are very proud of our students for their hard work and dedication in preparing for and competing in this event,” said Tim Bickell, Student Success Coach.
Upper Thames ES was one of two teams to secure a silver medal in the Grade 4-6 Character Animation competition.
