Two feet and a heartbeat: Car free Fridays return

Stratford’s Downtown BIA are asking residents to leave their vehicles at home.

The first Car Free Friday is this coming Friday (June 7).

Downtown BIA general manager Jamie Pritchard said the organization is encouraging people to take some form of active transportation whether that be on their bike, or on foot.

You can ride your bike over to KBD Law at the corner of Erie Street and Ontario Streets for free bike tune-ups from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.

“We are encouraging people to leave the cars at home and take some form of active transportation. Walk, bike, take the bus, even car pool, one car is better than four.”

Pritchard said Stratford is well-known for green efforts and its compact enough for residents to find a way around town without needing a vehicle.

“We want to get people out and being active for a few reasons: one is it’s great for your health, and two, it’s great for the environment.”

Stratford Police Service will also attend for education on bike registration. The city’s transit manager will be on hand to talk about the city’s continued efforts towards electric buses.
