It’s a chance to promote mental health.
And maybe take out some frustrations on a local member of parliament.
Perth-Wellington MP John Nater is hosting his second annual Dodge for Dads dodgeball tournament.
The event runs at Mitchell District High School on Friday June 14, from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
The MP is trying to get a few more teams to join in.
June is Mental Health month and the tournament is over the Father’s Day weekend – as good a time as any to talk about mental health, Nater said.
“Too often folks don’t talk about mental health, we don’t talk about our own mental health so it’s a chance to really promote that, an opportunity to end the stigma and have those conversations.”
Teams of six with two alternates will compete. Competitors should be age 14 and above.
Nater joked that there may be a few folks in his riding with some incentive to join up.
Funds raised go towards Get in Touch for Hutch, which helps with community programs and helps young people who struggle with mental health.
“If anyone has ever dreamed of throwing stuff at me that’s their opportunity to do so.”
