A fundraiser is being held Saturday by the family of a woman living with cancer.
Stratford resident Karen Hamilton says her sister, LeeAnn Wiltse, age 63, is diagnosed with melanoma and the cancer has spread to her brain.
The prognosis is poor but the family is raising money for medication that can help.
Karen describes her sister, who lives in Alberta, as an “angel that walks the earth.”
Hamilton’s husband, Doug Flanagan, owns and operates Krown Rust Control at 71 Jarvis St. in Stratford. On Saturday, they are offering reduced price services, with funds going to her sister’s continued treatment.
One hundred per cent of money earned that day goes to fundraising.
They are also running a BBQ with proceeds going to her sister.
“The treatment is imperative to give my sister some time,” Hamilton said.
It’s a cash only event.
Wiltse also lives with multiple sclerosis. Hamilton said her sister’s diagnosis is a good reminder for everyone to get themselves checked, and not to wait, saying time is of the essence when dealing with melanoma.
