A collaboration between a local brewer and radio station has led to a new beer.
Black Swan Brewing has brewed up a golden ale in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Stratford’s CJCS.
Founder and owner Ryan Stokes says the local brewery had a lot of fun coming up with marketing ideas. A guitar pic-themed CJCS label was selected for the beer cans.
Selecting a brew also required some planning, but he says lot of people will find it enjoyable.
“It’s a nice, light beer that is easy to drink…I think it appeals to the masses.”
Black Swan is also celebrating an anniversary and some other milestones.
“We are marking not only 10 years but also our thousandth batch of beer. Over a million litres now, which is kind of exciting.”
A celebration is planned for September.

Stokes said it was nerve wracking starting a local brewery, several years before craft brewing exploded in the province. He recalled the first beer the company created was an English pale ale.
Mercer Hall took the first keg.
“We just had so much fun and learned so much over the years.”
The company has expanded selection over the years, and now includes specialty hot dogs created by head brewer, Phil Phillips.
