Humane Society announces summer events for pet lovers

The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo & Stratford Perth has some events and activities coming up to engage the community and maybe find loving homes for animals.

Cree Toner, with Stratford Perth Humane Society, highlighted an adoption event scheduled for Wednesday (Aug. 7) at both Stratford and Kitchener-Waterloo locations.

“If you’re looking to add a cat or a dog or perhaps another animal into your life, it’s a great way to meet one of them,” said Toner.

The event will feature reduced adoption fees and an opportunity for potential pet owners to meet available cats, dogs, and other animals.

Stratford and area residents are encouraged to make the drive to Kitchener and Waterloo area for a couple of other worthwhile events.

On Sept. 8 at Kiwanis Park, in Kitchener, pet owners can look forward to a Dash and Splash, which allows dogs to enjoy a water park with designated times for small and large dogs.

“We’re hoping for a nice sunny, warm day so that your dogs can enjoy the water,” said Toner.

And cat enthusiasts should mark their calendars for Aug. 10-13, for the CatVideoFest 2024 at Princess Cinemas in Waterloo. Ten percent of ticket proceeds will help the kitties in the care of the humane society.
