After more heavy rain, another advisory from UTRCA

Another torrential downpour, another safety warning from the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority.

The conservation authority says rain totals of 50 to 70 millimeters fell north of London to north of St. Marys on Tuesday.

That rainwater will run off into ditches, streams and rivers, as the ground is still wet from rain received earlier this month and not able to absorb all the water, UTRCA said.

The conservation authority does not expect serious flooding of major creeks and rivers, but low lying, poorly-drained areas could have flooding.

Stratford and areas in Perth County saw significant rainfall on Tuesday, with heavy rains on a number of days in July, impacting some local businesses and leading to flooded basements around the city.

UTRCA continues to operate its flood control reservoirs at Wildwood, Fanshawe and Pittock Conservation Areas to reduce downstream peak flows.
