Milestone week as Mitchell celebrates its 150th anniversary

It’s a big week for the community of Mitchell.

Mitchell Homecoming 150 celebrations started Monday and run to Sunday.

The downtown cenotaph is the venue for the opening ceremony of the community’s 150th birthday celebrations. That starts at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

The BIA street party is also revving up today in the downtown core.

A golf tournament was held this morning and other events were being held around Mitchell, including a teddy bear picnic at Lion’s Park.

Events on Thursday include a 3-on-3 basketball tournament and pickle ball at the tennis courts.

A family fun night and the Mitchell Lions Fish Fry are scheduled for Friday.

Saturday events include a soap box derby and car and motorcycle show.

There is also plenty of food for purchase and musical guests performing.

Events wrap up on Sunday.

A full list of events can be found here.
