Update: second person dies after Oxford County crash

A second person has died after a fatal collision in Oxford County.

The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. on July 4 at the intersection of 16th Line and Cassel Side Road in the Township of East Zorra-Tavistock.

Members from the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Tavistock Fire Services, Hickson Fire Services, and Oxford County Emergency Medical Services, responded to the scene.

The passenger of one vehicle, a 32-year-old from Kitchener, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Oxford OPP was recently informed that the driver of that vehicle, a 34-year-old resident of Waterloo, who was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, has since died.

The driver of the second vehicle was taken to hospital as a precaution.
