Stratford Fall Fair returns for its 183rd year of festivities

The Stratford Fall Fair, now in its 183rd year, is set to return with a lineup of exciting events.

Heidi Danen from the Stratford & District Agricultural Society highlighted the fair’s free admission traditions and accessibility.

“We’re going on 10-plus years now as free admission and it’s made a change, we understand that it can be quite expensive to do things in the area,” she said. “So it’s super exciting that we’re able to offer it for free admission so people can come to the fair.”

The event begins Thursday, September 19, with a Senior’s Day and family BBQ. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the ambassador competition, Danen said.

Attractions include exhibits at the Stratford Library Complex, the “Farm to You” event, cattle shows, a kids’ corner, a farmers market, a new beer garden, and lawn tractor races.

Danen stressed the importance of community support and volunteer involvement.

“There are some fairs that are struggling, and the big thing is the volunteers,” she noted.

The 183rd Stratford Fall Fair will run from September 19 to 22 at the Stratford Rotary Complex.
