St. Marys’ McDonald’s manager wins prestigious Ray Kroc award

A local McDonald’s manager has won a prestigious award.

Jordan Bucht, who manages McDonald’s restaurants in St. Marys and Lucan, has won the Ray Kroc award.

Only one per cent of restaurant managers around the world receive the honour, which includes a cash prize and a trophy.

It is named after the founder of the restaurant.

According to the company, Bucht started at McDonald’s nine years ago as a crew member, age 19, and worked his way up to manager.

Bucht helped open the St. Marys location during COVID and was able to hire a full team by reaching out to the community, said Kerry Prober, owner/operator of McDonald’s New Hamburg, St. Marys, Lucan and Stratford.

He says it feels good to get recognition for the honour and thanks his peers for helping him grow into the leaders he is today.

Every two years, McDonald’s franchisees and regional management nominate restaurant managers for the Ray Kroc Award, for superior performance and outstanding customer experience.

Added Prober: “Jordan creates an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome. I see it in the restaurant when I go in – a team of people who want to develop and stay.”
