UPDATE: Serious injuries after single vehicle collision

Stratford police say two people were seriously injured after a single vehicle roll-over collision.

A 24-year-old male from Woodslee was taken to Victoria Hospital in London by air ambulance with life-threatening injuries.

A 19-year-old female from Thamesford is at the same hospital in London with serious
injuries.

The collision occurred at about 3 p.m. Tuesday.

At this point in the investigation, police say a red 2013 Chevrolet Cruze, was southbound on Perth Road 130, south of Line 16, when the driver attempted to pass but was forced back into its own lane due to oncoming traffic.

The Cruz veered off the roadway and into a ditch. The vehicle rolled several times.

Both people inside were ejected.

It is believed speed was a factor and both occupants were not wearing seatbelts.
Perth Road 130 was closed between Line 16 and Line 15 until 8 p.m. last night for the Stratford Police Service Collision Reconstruction Team to conduct an investigation.

Stratford Police have also learned that Perth OPP received a driving complaint involving the same vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed, 30 minutes before the collision, on Highway 23 North of Mitchell.

Anyone who witnessed the vehicle prior to the collision is asked to contact Const. Nicholas Teahen at nteahen@stratfordpolice.com to provide information.
