Stratford’s 911 fire dispatching services are now being provided by the Kitchener dispatch centre.
Stratford Fire Department will continue round-the-clock fire and emergency responses in the city and Stratford firefighters will continue to staff the city’s two fire halls.
Under the arrangement with Kitchener, new computer-aided dispatch systems for Stratford have been implemented, allowing data to be shared.
Next Generation 9-1-1 will allow the public to share more information with dispatchers including text messages and video. It will also give emergency operators and dispatchers the ability to identify the location of a call using GPS coordinates.
The regular phone line for fire department general inquiries will remain.
