New campaign will highlight impact of rising housing costs

A new United Way Perth-Huron campaign will highlight the impact of rising housing costs.

The organization’s Social Research & Planning Council is launching Speak Up For Housing, a campaign built on information gathered via a cost of housing survey.

Kristin Crane, Director Community Impact and Research, told MyStratfordNow a large portion of the population can benefit from learning about the housing crisis.

She says it’s impacted the community, and the survey highlights how housing costs have significantly impacted residents, with some heartbreaking, hard-hitting examples.

“We wanted to share those stories so that people understood that this is our whole community that is impacted. So many different levels of individuals are suffering, and that there are things that can be done.”

United Way Perth-Huron CEO Ryan Erb said housing costs affect everyone from all walks of life and the campaign allows us them to share stories and inspire action.

insights from survey participants will feature on posters in the region, and on social media posts

You can learn more about the campaign through the Speak Up For Housing site, on the United Way Perth-Huron web page.
