A new event offers a chance to bike or walk for a good cause this weekend at Stratford’s Ride for Refuge.
The family-friendly fundraising event on Saturday (Oct. 5) helps raise funds in support of the Stratford House of Blessing.
The goal is around $20,000.
Stratford House of Blessing Executive Director Eva Hayes said organizers have worked hard to get it up and going.
“It’s been a bit of experience for us as we walk through this. And we are hoping this will be successful enough that we will continue to do it.”
Participants can navigate a 2.5K or 5K walk or a 10K or 20K bike ride.
Stratford House of Blessing said its food bank donations are decreasing while numbers seeking support are increasing.
The recent Thanksgiving Food Drive, held last weekend, has helped, with 5,500 pounds of food donated to the food bank.
The event helps to keep the organization funded to aid those in need.
