One of the founders of a local charitable organization with significant positive impact is among the Perth-Wellington recipients of the King Charles III Coronation Medals.
Among the list of recipients announced on Sunday (Sept. 29) by Perth-Wellington MP John Nater are Stratford residents Rick Boon, Bernie Van Herk, John Miller and Ruth Kneider.
Ruth and her husband Richard Kneider founded Simple Dreams, an organization that runs a number of local events including the popular To Stratford With Love Christmas dinner.
“To think that our country is still a country of serventhood…makes me very grateful,” Kneider told MyStratfordNow.
On the list from St. Marys are Stew Grant, Julie Docker Johnson, Charlie Hammond and Cameron Porteous.
“These recipients were nominated by their communities; their neighbours, co-workers, friends, and fellow volunteers,” Nater said in a media release. “They come from all nine municipalities in Perth—Wellington and embody different backgrounds, careers, and interests. But each of them holds one important thing in common: a commitment to their community and country.”
The commemorative medal was created by the Government of Canada to mark the coronation of King Charles III.
Recipients were selected after a nomination process in May and June.
