Citizens can learn more about an invasive plant plan at an upcoming community information session.
The City of Stratford andĀ Upper Thames River Conservation Authority are hosting the session for the Stratford Invasive Plant Plan, recently approved by city council.
The Stratford Invasive Plant Plan was developed by the Invasive Species Centre at the suggestion of the cityās energy and environment committee.
Categories of invasive species include current species, managed species, and species to watch in the future. That will enable a broader strategic approach to invasive species management, according to a media release from the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority.
The plan combines work completed by the City and its partners in and around the T.J. Dolan natural area and Lake Victoria, and offers recommendations and resources to improve prevention and manage invasive plants.
The information session will include an overview of the plan, how to identify the most common invasive plant species and how to use iNaturalist to report invasive plant locations in Stratford.
The session runs from 7-8 p.m. on Oct. 9 at the B community hall at the Stratford Rotary Complex.Ā For more information, contact Vanni Azzano at azzanov@thamesriver.on.ca or 519-521-7328.
