Stratford receives more than $3.58 million from province for infrastructure

Matthew Rae, MPP for Perth-Wellington announced on Thursday that the Ontario government is providing more than $14.28 million for local infrastructure projects in the Perth-Wellington region.

The funding is being provided through the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund, which provides annual funding for local infrastructure projects in municipalities with populations under 100,000.

The City of Stratford is receiving more than $3.58 million from the total allocated for the region.

Rae explained how critical rural communities are to the province.

“It’s a major driver in our economy and I know it’s important that we invest in rural Ontario,” explained Rae.

The funding allocation for each community in the region is based on a formula that accounts for the different needs and economic conditions of each municipality.

This will aid communities in to building or update necessary infrastructure such as roads, water, bridges and wastewater, all while reducing the impact on their municipal budgets.
