A cemetery walking tour may be just the thing to get you into the Halloween spirit.
St. Marys Museum is offering two chances to check out the St. Marys Cemetery, at noon and 2 p.m. on Saturday, as part of Spooktacular festivities in the town.
The tours will feature the history of the cemeteries, and highlight unique and significant graves, as well as a tutorial on how to research your own ancestors using cemetery resources.
You can start the morning out at St. Marys Farmers’ Market, at Milt Dunnell Field, which features photo opportunities starting at 8:30 a.m.
Photo cost is by donation and will go towards St. Marys Salvation Army Food Bank.
It’s the final outdoor market of the season.
There is a Howl-O-Ween pet parade and costume contest. Participants can show up at 10:30 a.m. outside town hall. Participants and pets will walk down to Water St. and back up to town hall for treat bags and pet costume prizes.
You can also trick-or-treat at downtown businesses and show off costumes to merchants, who are handing out candy 10 a.m. to noon.
Look for the Halloween decal in the window of downtown businesses. St. Marys Public Library is also handing out candy and collecting donations for the community pantry.
There is also a theatrical element to the day. You can celebrate the 50th anniversary season of St. Marys Community Players’ and get tickets to a matinee performance of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee’, a musical comedy.
The 2 p.m. show is at the Town Hall Auditorium.

Optimist Club of Mitchell is hosting its 14th-annual Spook-tacular event on Saturday and Sunday at the Voorstenbosch bush, located at #3945 Road 160, across from FS Partners.
It runs from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. both days and admission is by donation.
Organizers say you can wear your Halloween costume.
