It’s a chance to purchase a hand-crafted, hand-painted artistic bowl, while supporting the community.
Stratford House of Blessing’s Empty Bowls fundraiser started Monday and runs until Friday.
Aaron Balzer, the new resource coordinator for the local food bank, said there is a change to the format this year as Empty Bowls moves in-house.
So you can go in and pick out a bowl and grab a food item from one of the local restaurants that have donated to the cause.
“We have about 600 different bowls that have either been painted by a local artist or actually made by a local potter.”
Balzer said there are plenty of options and unique designs.
Prices start at $30 per bowl. Ten different restaurants have donated food.
There is also a silent auction that includes items and experiences, including quilts and Stratford Festival tickets.
Winners will be announced on Friday.
Balzer said the in-house offering allows people to stop-in and see the food bank.
“When you come in you are welcome to get a tour of our food bank to see what we do, where we do it and how we do it.”
The House of Blessing’s recent Ride for Refuge surpassed the goal of $20,000 and Balzer said there is a warehouse full of cereal from the local cereal box challenge.
